Anna Laurini

Anna Laurini was born and raised in Milan, however has been living in London for the past 18 years. Laurini gained notoriety over the last few years as one of the most distinctive urban contemporary artists to burst onto the London and New York scene. Laurini’s process is dynamic and bold yet her underlying femininity permeates her prolific body of work. Inspired by Picasso and Matisse, Anna earned a Fine Art diploma at Central Saint Martins and attended life drawing at Art Student League, New York. Her work has been exhibited in London, Tokyo, New York, Milan and Paris and her works have been bought by collectors throughout the world.

Anna began to emblazon her signature Cubist-influenced, red-lipped face across billboards in Shoreditch and Mayfair as a break from the studio, and is now regularly called upon for collaborations, most recently by Ruper Sanderson and Japanese label Black by Moussy.

She has taken the technique of cubism and infused it with new meaning, giving life to the figures she portrays. Her Picasso-esque style of painting has become iconic in London as she has succeeded in painting nearly every street corner with her characterful faces.

Even though her work can be seen prominently throughout the streets of London, New York, Paris, Milan and Tokyo, Anna doesn’t describe herself as a street artist though, rather an artist that likes to paint on the streets. Describing her street work as more of a release from the time spent in the studio and even as an addiction, she talks about getting on her bike, cycling around and seeing what canvas might be available to once again display her work to the public.
